Price & market cap alerts

Stock price and market cap alerts, by push or WhatsApp.

Set a price or a market capitalization for each stock you follow, above or below. OpScout checks them on a schedule during the U.S. regular trading session, for as long as you keep each Monitor on, and alerts you when one is met.

You make the decisions. OpScout does the watching.

What you set

  • Price above or below

Met when the regular-session price is at or above, or at or below, your level. Equality counts as met.

  • Market cap above or below

The market capitalization as the data source reports it, compared with your level in the same way.

  • Once or Repeat

Once alerts you the first time the condition is met. Repeat checks again after the interval you choose.

  • Many stocks at once

Run price and market cap Monitors on many stocks side by side, for days, months or even years.

How OpScout checks a price or market cap Monitor

OpScout evaluates Monitors on a schedule, not continuously: about every 15 minutes during the U.S. regular trading session, from the 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time open. Saving a Monitor does not check it; the app shows when its first check is due. A condition that is met only between two checks, or only outside the session, may never be detected. When Monitors are evaluated.

A price Monitor uses the regular-session price the data source reports. Pre-market, after-hours and overnight prices are not used, so a level crossed only in those hours does not produce an Alert. Price Monitors.

A market cap Monitor uses the figure the data source reports. OpScout does not calculate it, and the share count behind it may not be current. Market-Cap Monitors.

A Notification goes out after its Alert is recorded and can take longer on some channels. WhatsApp has a monthly message allowance, which Settings shows. Notification limits.

How it works

  1. You set the levels

Pick the stocks and the price or market cap level that matters to you, above or below.

  2. OpScout keeps checking

Across every stock and level you have set, on the session's schedule.

  3. You get an Alert, you decide

By push notification or WhatsApp. What you do next is always your decision.

Questions

Are pre-market and after-hours prices used?

No. OpScout evaluates Monitors only during the U.S. regular trading session and uses the regular-session price. If a level is still crossed when the session opens, it can produce an Alert in that session's first check. Market sessions.

Can I get these alerts on WhatsApp?

Yes. Link and verify your WhatsApp number in the app, then choose WhatsApp as a delivery channel when you create or edit an alert. How WhatsApp alerts work.

When is a market cap alert more useful than a price alert?

A market cap level describes the size of the whole company, so it compares across companies, and a stock split does not change it. A price level matches the price at which shares trade. Price alerts vs market cap alerts.

Is an Alert a signal to buy or sell?

No. An Alert says that a condition you configured was met. OpScout does not provide investment advice or recommendations.
